Spring in Whistler is simply magical. The mountains are still covered in snow, yet the valley is showing signs of lush, green vegetation peeking out from the blanket of white. This is also the time of year when the available activities are boundless, so we created a guide to narrow down our favourite ways to spend time outdoors this Spring.

Here are the top 5 spring activities in Whistler:

Spring Skiing Whistler

Spring Skiing

Spring is one of our favourite times to ski in Whistler. There’s still plenty of snow on the mountain, and the days are long, bright, and beautiful. It’s the time of year when we ditch the heavy layers, bring out the sunny lenses, and comfortably enjoy bell-to-bell days on the mountain. Whistler Blackcomb has announced that closing day for skiing this year is May 24th, which leaves plenty of time to get turns in this spring.

Mountain Biking

As the snow melts away in the valley, trails start opening up to be explored by bike. As a low elevation network, Lost Lake trails are designed for intermediate mountain bikers, and it’s a great way to get a taste of what Whistler has to offer. Depending on the year, you can be riding the Lost Lake XC network of trails by the end of April. If you prefer to explore Whistler via paved trails, the Valley Trail is the perfect option for beginner bikers or those wanting to simply take in the sights.

Trail Running Whistler

Trail Running

Prefer two feet over two wheels? Trail running is a wonderful way to explore Whistler, as well as a great way to clear your mind and get your heart pumping. You will challenge yourself through the technical terrain of the Lost Lake trail network, all while being just minutes away from Whistler Village. This accessible network gives you the feeling of being away from it all, without actually heading to a remote location. At the end of your run, take a moment to enjoy the gorgeous scenery at Lost Lake Park.

Whistler Village in Spring

The Village

While Whistler is truly a four-season playground, spring is generally a quieter time in town, making it the optimal time to explore without the crowds. Stroll through the village and explore the unlimited shopping Whistler has to offer or grab a seat at one of the many dining options available. Whistler’s dining, and specifically the ski apres scene, continually make the ‘best of’ lists in the world. Take advantage of the many patios in town and enjoy fine dining or cocktails after a hard day of play.

Golf Coarse in Whistler

Golf

Imagine playing golf surrounded by pristine mountain views. Sound ideal? It is. Whistler has four major golf courses to choose from (Big Sky is located 30km north), and you won’t be disappointed with the greens, amenities, and epic mountain scenery. The championship, designer courses have caused Whistler to be rated Canada’s number one golf destination by Golf Digest. Don’t you think it’s time to experience it for yourself?
