Whistler in August – Something for Everyone
While I may not be an adrenaline junkie there is a lot of them in Whistler and there’s plenty to do! Myself, you can find me walking my dog, enjoying one of Whistler’s many hikes and biking along the valley trail. No matter what sport (or non-sports!) you enjoy, Whistler certainly has something for everyone. With August in full swing, and the evenings lingering, its the perfect time to visit Whistler and take in one of these activities (or two!)
Gimme’ All The Adrenaline
BE GROUNDED -This wouldn’t be a post about adrenaline if I didn’t start with the renowned Whistler Mountain Bike Park, one of the best and biggest bike parks in the world, and don’t worry, it’s lift-accessed! There are four zones to explore, each with it’s own unique trails, features and thrills. Click here to read more about it.
FLY LIKE A BIRD – Is there anything more exhilarating than soaring through the air? Superfly Ziplines is just that. This excursion features multiple zip lines all connected by a system of boardwalks and trails. If epic views of Cougar Mountain, old growth trees and speeding through the air at 100km an hour is up your alley, you won’t want to miss this adventure the next time you’re in Whistler
WET AND WILD – Travel by river raft along class 2 and 3 rapids along Whistler’s Green River! Grab the whole family, suit up and prepare for an afternoon of fun, bouncy whitewater rapids surrounded by stunning scenery. Each raft has an experienced safety guide and they’ll outfit you in a PFD so all you need to do is bring your sense of adventure. Click here to pick your tour.
Do Without Doing – Whistler Style
AFTER DARK – Just because the sun sets in Whistler, doesn’t mean the fun stops! One of the most unique tours in Whistler has to be Vallea Lumina. The entire experience takes place outside on a trail where you’ll wander through the forest while listening to a story of two-lost hikers while watching a truly unique light show. Its truly a one-of-a-kind experience to be had in Whistler.
CULTURED – The Audain Art Museum is boasts a comprehensive permanent collection of British Columbia’s most celebrated artists. The museum displays up to three temporary exhibits a year so you’ll be sure to experience something different every time you visit.
TREAT YOURSELF – It would be impossible for me to choose just one place in Whistler to get a treat so I will name a few! In the centre of Whistler Village is Hot Buns Bakery and it is just that – fresh, hot cinnamon buns paired with delicious coffee. Portobello Bakery is located in the Upper Village and not only has a pretty incredible breakfast but some of the best pastries and donuts – one of my favourites is the Maple Bacon Donut. If you’ve heard of Whistler, you’ve heard of Pure Bread! Not only do they boast the most delicious and freshest breads in Whistler, they have decadent loaves, scones and tarts.
