Whistler in Late Afternoon Sun

Hello June!

The nights are getting longer and the weather is getting warmer, summer is right around the corner and I couldn’t be more ready. While there are some travel restrictions still in place, I am feeling optimistic that we will be enjoying a safe and fun summer soon.

We are in Step 1 of British Columbia’s Restart Plan – we can gradually begin to restart social connections and activities. Recreational Travel within BC’s designated regional travel zones is permitted. Whistler’s zone includes Vancouver Coastal Health and Fraser Health Regions. Learn more here.

FORE THE LOVE

There is no better way to de-stress than by hitting a few golf balls after work. Now that we’re into June, all 5 of the courses in the area are open and with different designs and features, you’ll sure to find one that will suit every ability.
A quick 25 minute drive north of Whistler are Sunstone Golf Club – Bar & Grill and Big Sky Golf Club in Pemberton. With spectacular views of Mt. Currie, they offer outstanding golf with affordable green fees. Here in Whistler we have the Fairmont Chateau Whistler Golf Club, Nicklaus North Golf Course and Whistler Golf Club.

PLAN AHEAD

Although Whistler is indeed open, I do advise making bookings for accommodation, activities and dining before you arrive. Capacities are a little bit lower due to COVID-19 and with restrictions easing, and everyone’s excitement growing, restaurants and activities are booking quickly. Tourism Whistler has a fantastic resource for what is available and hours of operation.

GET OUTSIDE

Whistler offers such a wide range of activities that sometimes it can be hard to choose. Whistler Eco Tours specialize in guided tours where you can learn about Whistler’s unique biodiversity. Valley Bike Tours, Paddle The River of Golden Dreams, Nature Walks and everything in between. If adrenaline is more your style, Whistler’s The Adventure Group has a tour for you; Bungee Jumping, RZR Tours (side-by-side) Superfly Ziplines and even an Aerial Obstacle Course.

Whistler Farmer's Market
MEET SOME LOCALS

One of my favourite things to do on the weekend is to take a stroll through Whistler Farmer’s Market. The 2021 season just kicked off and this year it’s in a new location, Whistler Racket Club (in the outdoor carpark). From 11am to 4pm, visitors and locals alike, gather to shop at local vendors that include farms, artists, artisans, food and drink vendors and other creators. A couple of my favourite ‘don’t miss them’ vendors include a pocket pie from Golden Crust, of course I grab some dog treats for Chief from WOW Treats and even a bottle (or two) of Fort Berens Estate wine from their Lillooet vineyard. You can find the Whistler Farmer’s Market every Sunday until October.
