October in Whistler
Many people think of Whistler and they think either skiing OR biking – but what about October, what about dining specials, deals on activities and overall a quieter vibe! I love October. The trees are showing their true colours and there’s a dusting of snow on the mountains and a feeling that ski season is near. Here are a few ideas if you are visiting Whistler this October.
BREW IT
Whistler does many things well and Craft Beer is certainly one of them! In October, we are celebrating all month long thanks to beer-themed experiences throughout the village and beyond. Many of Whistler’s restaurants are having various brew nights that are not to be missed, but one of the more unique options is the “Brew Bus” – this is a great way to safely explore the Sea to Sky’s Breweries through Whistler, Pemberton and Squamish.Looking to diversify your palate a bit more? Head over to The Whistler Racket Club and try their “Huck it in the Bucket” featuring Axe Throwing and Mead from HumbleBee Meadery – what is Mead you ask? You’ll have to visit the Club to find out (hint, it involves honey!
WINE NOT
Whistler’s Festival of Food and Wine is back November 4 – 28 and I’ve already been checking out the schedule. Educational drink seminars, chef’s demonstrations and my favourite – Winemaker’s Dinners. Some of their signature events include Comedy Kitchen, Poured and even a Murder Mystery. If you’re thinking about it, I would definitely buy tickets earlier than later to avoid disappointment. Take a look at the complete schedule here.
EAT HERE
During the later part of October + November, many of Whistler’s restaurants and Lounges offer excellent dining specials during the quieter months. Set menus or discounted prices is what you can expect and I’ve rounded up a few of my favourites.
- Araxi Restaurant – One of Whistler’s most popular restaurants is celebrating their 40th Anniversary with a $40 Pre-Fix Menu
- Carumba Restaurant is another favourite of mine – they have a Happy Hour and a special Tapas Menu that just can’t be beat.
- Pizza Antico – Right in the heart of the village and has the best wood-fired pizza around. They also have a Happy Hour with specials on Margherita Pizzas.
