The Last Days of Snow in Whistler

The Last Days of Snow in Whistler

Spring is called Whistler’s ‘Unlimited Season’ for a reason! April and May can have variable weather, like last weekend when we got 17cm of snow overnight on the mountain. For me, I’m very much looking forward to warmer temps in the valley, but there is undoubtedly still winter-fun to be had on the mountain. If you want the best of both worlds like me, you can enjoy spring activities (and weather) in Whistler’s Valley but enjoy snow-sports on the mountain. Here are my top 3 snowy activities to enjoy this spring in Whistler – Take advantage of this in the next few weeks before all the snow really melts!
FESTIVAL FUN
Whistler Ski + Snowboard Festival Weekender Edition – The full festival will be back in 2023, but until then, they’ve created a weekender festival for you to get amped for the real deal. There are events and races all weekend long, followed by acres events and after parties. One of the main events – and most hilarious – events is Whistler’s Retro Day Slush Cup – I’ll let you imagine what’s involved in this event.

SNOWMOBILE
Snow is a-plenty in Whistler’s Callaghan Valley – Canadian Wilderness offers many tours for every ability. Wide, winding trails through the forest topped with sunshine and spring weather – what more could you want in a Whistler afternoon adventure!

ZIP
Whistler’s Superbly Ziplines is a favourite activity of visitors and locals alike. ‘Be a bird for the day’ and try two of Canada’s longest ziplines at over 1km long! Tours available all year long but springtime is particularly beautiful. Blue skies, sunshine and snow-capped mountains. Remember your cameras!

BONUS TIP!
Spring in Whistler also means that Whistler’s furry locals are making an appearance after a long winter! Seeing a bear is on many people’s Whistler must-do list, and while they are obviously adorable, it is very important that bear viewing is done safely for you and the bears.  One of the best and safest ways to see a bear is through a bear viewing tour which start in May.
