Original Village & Mountain Square

At the heart of the Resort is Whistler’s main village.  Whistler village is divided into two sub-areas. First the original village which starts right at the base of Whistler Mountain and Mountain Square. Mountain Square features both the Whistler Mountain Gondola and access to Blackcomb Mountain via the Excalibur Gondola.

In the summertime, the Whistler Mountain bike park is in operation here. Additionally, in winter families enjoy Whistler Blackcomb’s Fire & Ice Show every Sunday evening. The Fire & Ice show is a spectacle of skiers and riders hitting a big air jump, flying through flaming rings and joined by fire spinners and fireworks.

Predominantly pedestrian, Whistler Village is connected via a series of paths and walkways known as the ‘village stroll’. A walk from Mountain Square down the village stroll brings you to Village Square. This location features an array of Whistler’s finer restaurants and boutique stores.  From this point visitors can continue to Skiers Approach and the Whistler Visitor Centre.  Just past the Visitor Centre is a pedestrian bridge that crosses Village Gate Boulevard. Once over the bridge, we enter Village North.  This area was predominantly developed in the mid-1990s as an extension of the original village, subsequently, it offers more dining establishments and shops. Both the original village and village North are serviced by the complimentary Whistler Transit shuttle, which also serves the Upper Village and Benchlands on Blackcomb.
